The longest baseball winning streak in North Jersey is history.
Eddie Vorvolakos had four RBI and Mike D’Ambrosio was strong on the mound Monday as Westwood pulled off a major upset, stopping Mahwah’s 20-game winning streak with a 15-5, five-inning Big North Patriot Division matchup.
The Thunderbirds (14-1) came into the ranked No. 2 in The Record baseball Top 25. They took a 5-4 lead in the top of the fourth inning, but the Cardinals scored 10 runs on four hits in the bottom of the inning to take control.
Sam Hutchinson had three hits and two RBI for the Cardinals (5-9). Evan Hull had a pair of doubles and Matt Rivera had four RBI.
The longest streak now? That would be St. Joseph at 13 straightfolloweed closely by Lyndhurst at 12.
