USA Today has made it clear which football team its staff thinks is the best within the talent-laden Big North United Division.

The national newspaper ranked Paramus Catholic No. 15 in its preseason Super 25 poll. USA Today didn’t rank Bergen Catholic, DePaul, Don Bosco or St. Joseph in its preseason poll.

Paramus Catholic has a new head coach, former assistant John Westervelt, but the Paladins have brought back a considerable amount of talent from a squad that went 9-2 and reached the Non-Public, Group 4 championship game last season. Senior defensive tackle Rashan Gary, the consensus No. 1 recruit in the national Class of 2016, leads that group of returning Paladins.

Paramus Catholic finished last season ranked No. 44 by USA Today, as part of its “next 25.” St. Peter’s Prep – which defeated Paramus Catholic in the Non-Public, Group 4 final eight months ago at MetLife Stadium – ended last season as the No. 18 team in USA Today’s Super 25.
