There are only 5 Thanksgiving Day football games in North Jersey scheduled for Thursday.
Eastside vs. Kennedy, 10:30 a.m.
St. Joes at Bosco, 10:30 a.m.
Clifton at Passaic, 10 a.m.
Teaneck at Hackensack, 10:30 a.m.
Dumont at Tenafly, 10:30 a.m.
Oh, and the unofficial “Campanile Bowl†played at a park in Fair Lawn somewhere. Maybe we will have to cover that game. I’m picking Team Vito in that one.
But we all know that snow is in the forecast for Wednesday night. So what does that mean?
I spoke to Dumont AD Mike Oppido a little while ago, and he seemed pretty confident that the game would go on as scheduled. He said he would make the decision Wednesday night if need be to reschedule (one thing about playing on Thanksgiving is there is still plenty of flexibility).
As far as the Bosco/Joes game. It’s the first time since 1985 that neither team is playing in a state finals. St. Joe’s can make it a 3-way tie for the Big North United title with a win. Bosco hasn’t had consecutive seasons with 4-losses or more since 1995-1996. It’s the same kind of deal, Bosco AD Brian McAleer is optimistic the game will go on as scheduled, however, it is possible the game will be rescheduled for Friday or Saturday afternoon (or maybe even Sunday) at 1 p.m. Clearing the field isn’t the issue, it’s the parking lots and bleachers and campus.
So, stay tuned, we will do our best to update the information as we get it. Check Twitter of course.
