Bill McPartland, an assistant for the last 10 years, has been hired as the new head softball coach at Paramus Catholic High School. He has also been the Paladins’ girls soccer coach since 2004, entering his 12th season as Paramus Catholic’s head man in that sport.

The 42-year-old McPartland, who lives in Saddle Brook, also has an assistant coach for Paramus Catholic’s boys and girls indoor track team for about the last decade. Hired on Tuesday as the softball coach, McPartland is also a teacher at Paramus Catholic.

“I’ve worn a lot of hats here in all my coaching roles and I’m comfortable with that,” said McPartland, who will probably step down as an indoor track coach in the winter to concentrate on softball and soccer. McPartland has served under three coaches in his assistant softball position with the Paladins – Larry Hughes, Brielle Cosentino and, most recently, Frank Baldino.

Among the top players back for the Paramus Catholic softball team, which went 12-13 overall competing in the ultra-strong Big North Conference-United Division (Immaculate Heart, DePaul, Holy Angels) in 2015, are seniors Sabrina Torres (center field), Noelle Cancro (catcher), Gabby D’Amato (third base) and Allie Mania (first base/catcher).
