Ramsey

Ramsey used the small game in large measure Wednesday to surge past River Dell.
The Rams had five successful sacrifices, including two times when the bunter reached safely, when they defeated the Golden Hawks, 6-3, in a Big North Conference Patriot Division game.
“We try to be aggressive and sometimes everything works out when you force as much of the action as you can,” said Ramsey coach Chris Caserta. “We’ve been playing a good brand of softball for the last several weeks and we just want to continue to play well.”
Nicole Mazzella (3-for-4), Sophie Blasius (3-for-4) and Abby Triglia (2-for-3, walk, two RBI) combined for eight of Ramsey’s 12 hits.
Senior right-hander Jess Juhlin (7-1) pitched 4.2 innings of three-hit ball to get the win and junior right-hander Katie Olson allowed no hits in 2.1 innings of relief to earn the save.
River Dell took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when leadoff batter Julie Montone singled, was sacrificed to second by Allie Ostuni and scored on a two out RBI single by Kayla Rosado.
Triglia had a run-scoring single to tie it 1-1 in the bottom of the first and then an RBI double in the second inning by Mazzella sparked a three-run outburst that made it 4-1.
After River Dell (7-4) crept within 4-3 on two runs in the top of the third, Triglia had another RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to make it 5-3.
Ramsey (9-2) has won four in a row and nine of its last 10.
Senior right-hander Cathy Antonelli went six innings for River Dell as she struck out three and walked one.
