Ridgefield Park

It will be an emotional afternoon for the Ridgefield Park girls soccer team when they host Cliffside Park today at 4:15, specifically for their coach John Pasquariello.

Forget the fact that it’s an important Big North American league game that could directly impact the Scarlets chances of getting into the state tournament. What’s even more important is the Scarlets and Red Raiders jointly agreed to dedicate this game to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer awareness. They will wear pink socks and play with pink balls and will be collecting donations at the game.

The players on Ridgefield Park came up with the idea to honor Pasquariello’s mom, who passed away from breast cancer. Pasquariello was deeply touched by the gesture and told me it will be an emotional day for him before adding he was “very proud of the girls for putting it together.”

Great gesture by the team for sure and a good chance for fans to give back to a cause greater than themselves. If you can’t come support it at this game, try to at another. There will be plenty of charity games throughout North Jersey this month and it’s a great time to lend your support.
