Mark Diaz drove home the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning Monday to give Paramus, ranked No. 20 in The Record baseball Top 25, a 1-0 victory over Hackensack in Big North Freedom Division action.
Diaz’s two out single made a winner out of LeShawn Perry, who threw a complete game two-hitter, striking out four and walking one.
OLD TAPPAN 2, PASCACK VALLEY 1 (at Old Tappan): John O’Reilly tossed a complete game five-hitter, striking out 12 to lead the No. 7 Golden Knights to a Big North National win.
WAYNE VALLEY 3, WAYNE HILLS 0 (at Wayne): Mike D’Amato struck out six and scattered seven hits en route to his fourth win as the No. 6 Indians stopped the No. 19 Patriots in Independence Division action.
TEANECK 17, BERGENFIELD 11 (at Bergenfield): Senior catcher Harrison Preschel drove in six runs to power the No. 13 Highwaymen to an National Division victory.
Senior center fielder Dmitri Rueger had a homer and three RBI for Teaneck. John Duster added two RBI, and Ivan Rodriguez picked up his fourth win.
PARAMUS CATHOLIC 6, BERGEN CATHOLIC 3 (at Palisades Park): The Paladins scored three times in the top of the eighth to knock off the No. 4 Crusaders in a United Division matchup. The win was PC’s seventh straight, and it’s the first time since the early 1990’s that the Paladins have beaten Don Bosco and Bergen Catholic in the same season,
