Wayne Valley opened its 2013 season by pounding out 14 hits in a 14-0, 4½-inning victory over visiting West Milford. The offensive outburst, which began with a four-run first inning, enabled senior right-hander Vin Gleason to pitch with a comfortable cushion on his way to a four-hit shutout in a Big North Independence division game that was shortened because of the NJSIAA’s 10-run mercy rule.
