One of our Big North Conference schools is taking positive steps toward stomping out bullying, which unfortunately has been in recent news circles in other areas in the state.  On Wednesday, December 3, 2014, Coach Randy Nathan, author of the book, Bullying in Sports: The Injuries We Do Not See, will be outlining important topics from his book, particularly hazing and harassment with the head coaches at West Milford High School.  Each head coach has a copy of the book and will be included in a discussion about these important topics in effort to protect the student-athletes in West Milford.

In the past two Septembers, Coach Randy Nathan has supported the “West Milford Annual Sports Community Kickoff Event” by attending, moderating, and presenting to all stakeholders in the school community.  This event was acknowledged by the Character Education Partnership with the prestigious Promising Practice Award and was highlighted at the National Conference last month in Washington DC.  West Milford hopes this workshop will help build on the positive achievements the school community has sustained thus far, such as season sportsmanship summits as directed by the Big North Conference and seasonal Captain’s Luncheon Meetings led by Director of Athletics, Joe Trentacosta.
